Time Management Strategies April, 2023

Hello,

Time has definitely gotten away from me. I am going to write about time management for business owners, employees, or anyone for that matter.

Ironic topic since I have not posted in a while, but even the most disciplined slip now and again!

I hope you enjoy the read.

Time management is something that we all probably struggle with from time to time, myself included. Here are a few strategies that I fall back on to get me back on track.

Create a to-do list- create your list in order of importance or which is due first, then cross them off as you complete each task

Schedule your day- plan your entire day first thing in the morning. Having it planned out can help prevent you from getting off task.

Use a calendar app- I love using mine. I can see what is happening at a glance, and it prevents surprises or unpreparedness.

Give yourself breaks- work 25 minutes and take a 2-3 minute break. This helps keep productivity going.

Get up earlier- start tackling your day early. For example, check emails, respond to them if needed, and then turn all your focus to the work ahead for that day.

Conduct a weekly review of your week- this will help you zero in on where you need improvement or what did or didn't get done. It will help sharpen your time management skills.

Avoid multitasking- trying to do more than one thing at a time almost always ends up being distractive and often times you end up getting less done than if you had focused on things one at a time.

Break larger tasks into smaller tasks- seeing a huge task ahead can sometimes be overwhelming and what happens when we get overwhelmed? We tend to procrastinate and put it off. Breaking it down into smaller, more manageable tasks will help conquer the overwhelm.

Set deadlines for everything- if you set deadlines for your tasks, you will be less likely to put them off or forget about them altogether.

We are all human and have had days where our time management could have been better. Using these strategies as much as possible will help improve our productivity and overall time management.
